Values-based Business Is The Only Way
Bring Together Reason, Emotion and Commitment
People buy what's important to them — what they value. They won't value what you tell them to value unless it truly matches up with what they believe they need.
How will they come to believe they need what you offer? Because you have convinced them with the power of your commitment to values they share and delight in.
Values Are The Basis Of Passion And Resolve
Most branding and marketing is a game of attempted manipulation. Sellers try to match what they want you to value (because they can sell it to you) with what you really do value. You resist because you don't like being manipulated.
What if your business were honest about what it does?
You'd focus on building a business that matches your own values and marketing to the group that shares them.
You wouldn't have to create a market; it's already there. You wouldn't have to convince people of the value of what you offer; they already know. You wouldn't have to claim your offering is important; it would be.
Our Philosophy of Branding, Design And Content
- Focus on what you truly believe in and value most. Nothing else will excite your passion and fuel your commitment.
- Passion sells. Why should other people believe in something you don't get excited about?
- Get to the guts of what you offer. Be brutally honest about what you do. Until then, you have no basis for branding or selling it.
- Appeal to people's values. That's the basis for nearly all their decisions. Show them what you offer will match what they value most, whether it's time, liesure, achievement, fame…or anything else.
- Be yourself. Put all of you you can into your brand and your business. Be distinctive. Never resort to fakery.
- Get a plan and stick to it. Consistency is essential. Stick to your niche.
- Make doing business with you fun, easy and interesting.
- Don't hold back. Be authentic, even a little outrageous. Be the only real thing in a world of artificiality.
The Carmine Coyote Says...
“Coyotes stay true to who they are. It's the only way to have fun and be successful at the same time. Copying others won't make you into them, only a tepid reflection of what you mistakenly think they are. ”
“Coyote is a trickster. He stirs things up, even if it gets him into hot water sometimes. My advice is to look at what all the conventional folk do in your business and do something different. If they're slick, competitive and sharp in their dealings, be homespun, supportive and honest instead. Don't compete, change the game.”
